Scope

The workshop is devoted to modeling, mathematical analysis, and numerical schemata for the simulation of semiconductor devices and materials as well as advances in the actual simulation of devices. In particular we are interested in novel applications like organic electronics. The emphasis is on the mathematics involved in all this. The topics are concerned with
  • Mathematical modeling: models for devices, semiconductor nanostructures, and novel materials - embedding of fine scale models into semi-classical approaches - kinetic models for semiconductor composites with complex fine structure - multi-physics modeling comprising: temperature, mechanical strain, optical modes, semiconductor-electrolyte composites
  • Mathematical analysis: thermodynamic consistency - existence, uniqueness, regularity, and asymptotics - asymptotic methods, homogenization
  • Numerics of device simulation: discretization (in particular for non-Boltzmann statistics) - eigenvalue-problems in quantum mechanics - device optimization of e.g. doping and geometry - software concepts
  • Novel applications: organic electronics like organic transistors, LEDs, photovoltaic cells - hybrid systems - silicon photonics - opto-electronics
