WIAS Publication Series

The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) publishes its own series. They make the institute's research results available quickly, permanently and with open access. New findings can thus reach the scientific community long before the often months-long review and publication process in academic journals is complete. The series also document the authorship and date of scientific results, foster exchange with the international research community, and provide space for formats that rarely fit into traditional journals, such as detailed technical documentation or workshop proceedings.

All contributions undergo an internal quality assurance process at the institute before publication. This ensures that the published work meets the scientific standards of WIAS.

WIAS Preprints

In the Preprint series, WIAS publishes current scientific results of its researchers before they are submitted to peer-reviewed journals. The preprints provide early access to new findings and invite scientific discussion. They are often the first public version of papers that later appear in refereed journals. Since 1992, more than 3,000 preprints have been published in this series.

WIAS Technical Reports

The Technical Reports contain technical documentation that accompanies and complements the institute's research. This includes, in particular, descriptions of research software developed at WIAS, for example on algorithms, implementation details or usage. In this way, they contribute to the transparency and reusability of scientific software.

WIAS Reports

The WIAS Reports offer a way to publish the content of workshops and scientific events held at WIAS. This keeps the contributions and discussions presented there documented beyond the event itself and accessible to a wider readership.

Annual Research Report

The Annual Research Report is published once a year. It provides an overview of the institute's key research results in the respective year and presents selected topics in more depth in specialized highlight articles. It is aimed both at the scientific community and at anyone interested in the work of WIAS.
