Service to the Community

In addition to the scientific activity WIAS is providing different services to the scientific community:

In that sense the institute is hosting

• the Secretariat of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) as well as
• the office of the German Mathematical Society (DMV).

The WIAS coordinates the Mathematical Research Data Initiative MaRDI (the consortium of mathematics within the National Research Data Initiative in Germany)

Within the Leibniz Association, the institute coordinates the network "Mathematical Modeling and Simulation".

WIAS director Michael Hintermüller is Founding Coordinator of the Unit Technology and Engineering within BR50, a joint initiative of Berlin’s non-university research institutions.
