The Secretariat of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) is hosted
at the Weierstraß-Institut für Angewandte Analysis und Stochastik
(WIAS). IMU is an international non-governmental and non-profit scientific
organization, with the purpose of promoting international cooperation in
mathematics. The Secretariat’s operation is supported by grants from the
German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the State of Berlin.
WIAS is an institute of
the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight non-university research institutes in Berlin
which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft.
We are seeking
a
Student Assistant
(Ref. 14/37)
starting December 1, 2014.
Responsibilities:
To support the administrative work of the IMU
Secretariat. This includes activities for the IMU commissions CDC (Commission
for Developing Countries) und ICMI (International Commission on Mathematical
Instruction), the IMU Executive Committee and other fields of operation of the
IMU Secretariat. You will have to assist, for instance, in database management,
Web site and social media maintenance, the preparation of documents, newsletters,
the production and support of projects and workshops, handling
inquiries/correspondence (via e-mail).
Qualifications,
skills, experience:

Two completed
university semesters (by March 31, 2015),
·
Fluent English,
written and spoken,
·
Sound MS Office
skills,
·
The ability to work
independently,
·
Knowledge of TYPO3 or
other content management systems and databases
as well as office work experience is desirable.

The contract is,
initially, for six months. Salary: 11,24 € per hour, 15 hours per week.
Office attendance flexible where appropriate, occasionally work in the evening
or on the weekend (a minimum of 4 times per year).
