The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz Association.

Numerics for innovative semiconductor devices

(Head: Dr. Patricio Farrell) starting at the earliest possible date.

The aim of the position is to work on numerical discretization methods for partial differential equations (finite volume methods) in the semiconductor field. In particular, perovskites will be studied together with our project partners of Imperial College London and Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.

The candidate is expected to hold a master's degree (or equivalent qualification) in mathematics or a related area. Furthermore, the candidate should have worked with at least one programming language (such as e.g. Matlab, Python, C++, Julia) and have a decent command of the English language. It is desirable if the candidate has experience with team work, knowledge of the finite volume method to numerically solve partial differential equations well as an interest in interdisciplinary research.

Please direct your queries to Dr. Patricio Farrell (Patricio.Farrell@wias-berlin.de and use NUMSEMIC as subject).

The appointment is initially limited for three years. The reduced work schedule is 29,25 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVoeD scale.

The Institute aims to increase the proportion of women in this field, so applications from women are particularly welcome. Among equally qualified applicants, disabled candidates will be given preference.

Please upload your complete application documents (motivation letter, detailed CV, certificates, list of MSc courses and grades, copy of the master thesis, reference letter, etc.) via our website or via the applicant portal by January 31st, 2020 using the button "Apply online".

We are looking forward to your application!
