Overview

High-power broad area semiconductor lasers operated in a pulsed regime can be used as the light sources in various sensor systems. Thus, modeling, analysis, and optimization simulations of broad area semiconductor lasers can be very useful when developing a new generation of the sensor systems. The software package BALaser developed at the WIAS is ideally suited for simulations of the spatiotemporal dynamics in pulsed broad-area semiconductor lasers and will be used by our cooperation partners from Ferdinand Braun Institute (FBH) in Berlin. In the frame of this project, we shall provide a support for our colleagues from FBH in performing modeling of the two-photon absorption effects in semiconductor lasers, implementation of this model into the software tool BALaser, and performance of the numerical simulations of pulsed broad-area semiconductor lasers.
