6th Leibniz MMS Days
April 17 - April 19, 2023
Potsdam

Focus topic
Digital Twins

Research
The topic of data driven simulation was addressed to some extend in many contributions all across the MMS Days 2023 in poster presentations, plenaries, paralell sessions and the World Cafe in the context of machine learning and data assimilation.

In addition, the MMS days offered a parallel session specifically allocated to the topic of data driven simulation and digital twins. In this session PhD students from ATB and WIAS presented their research. There have been presentations on combining data driven simulation with biochemical modeling in the context of agricultural emissions (Modeling the effect of feeding management on greenhouse gas and nitrogen emissions, L. Ouatahar, ATB; Modelling ammonia emissions from alkalizing dynamics of urine puddle pH, H. Vu, ATB) as well as a presention on challenges and potential solutions when coupling digital models and data to digital twins (Robust model predictive control for digital twins, D. Sommer, WIAS). The mix of application-oriented and method-centered presentations inspired to lively discussions within and beyond the session.
