TIME-DEPENDENT TRANSPORT IN QUANTUM WIRES

I will show why an extension to the time-domain of the
Lippmann-Schwinger (LS) scattering formalism for electron transport in a
quantum wire with embedded
subsystems has led us to consider an approach
built on the generalized master equation (GME).
We have been able to apply the GME-formalism to systems of considerable
geometrical complexity, even in an external magnetic field. I shall
demonstrate how familiar phenomena from the single-electron LS-formalism
can be identified in the many-electron
GME-approach, and discuss future interests.
