The course will be dedicated to a number of advanced topics from Scientific Computing, with a focus on practical approaches to the numerical solution of partial differential equations (PDEs).
It intends to cover finite volume and finite element discretizations of PDEs, the method of lines for transient problems, mesh generation, automatic differentiation.
The course assumes familiarity with basic topics from numerical mathematics and PDEs.
Exams will be performed as portfolio exams, based on course project reports and presentations developed in groups of 3 students.
