The Leibniz Network "Mathematical Modeling and Simulation" carried out the fifth Leibniz MMS Days hosted by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).
The Workshop aimed to further develop the MMS networking activities in the different Institutes, presenting undergoing work using modern methods of MMS and creating a plattform for discussion on themes of specific and general interest.
We would like to thank all the participants of the Leibniz MMS Days 2018 for making this workshop a successful and productive event. We look forward to seeing you at the next Leibniz MMS Days.
Program
Key Note Speakers
- Florian Dörfler (ETH Zürich): Data-Enabled Predictive Control
- Harald Pfeiffer (Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute), Potsdam): Binary black hole coalescence: From numerical relativity to gravitational waves
- Luciano Rezzolla (Goethe University, Frankfurt): The first image of a black hole
Topics
The workshop will comprise general plenary contributions and discussions on:
- MMS related topics at large (any MMS related topic is basically permissible),
- Research Software, Programming languages (Julia):
The MMS Days 2022 will cover Julia as an emerging and efficient programming language for numerical calculations such as in MMS. - Research Data, Reproducibility, Open Science, Data Science:
In 2019 the National Research Data Initiative (NFDI) went through its first round of calls. The mathematical contribution MaRDI is relevant for MMS and will be convered by the MMS Days 2022,
with presumed special emphasis on the scientific topics (depending on the contributions actually submitted)
- Dynamics of Large Coupled Networks
(e.g. power grids, reaction pathway networks, neuronal networks, agents social networks), - Computational and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics,
- Condensed Matter Physics and Material Science
(from computation of material properties to materials by design, light-matter interaction, devices, fabrication, material growth, nano-structuring),
General Schedule
Lectures will be scheduled from Monday (25 April 2022) midday until Wednesday (April 27 2022) noon. A poster session will be held on Monday evening. A conference dinner will be organized on Tuesday evening.
