Description:
The project is devoted to the theoretical investigation of the nonlinear behavior of complex laser devices with nanostructured semiconductor materials by means of effective modeling, simulation, and numerical bifurcation analysis. In the third funding period the research will be focused on the following types of semiconductor lasers:
- Quantum-dot mode-locked lasers and laser arrays. Theoretical analysis of colliding pulse mode-locking achieved by placing a saturable absorber section at a specific location in the cavity. Dynamics of mode-locked lasers with two absorber sections and/or a distributed Bragg reflection section. Theoretical study of synchronization phenomena in coupled arrays of mode-locked lasers.
- Frequency swept light sources. Further development and analysis of mathematical models of frequency swept light sources operating in the Fourier-domain mode-locked regime.
- Self-mode-locked single section lasers. Development of mathematical models for the description of self-mode-locked single section quantum dash and quantum-dot lasers. Investigation of the influence of the relevant physical effects, such as inhomogeneous line broadening, longitudinal carrier grating and carrier diffusion, four-wave mixing, amplitude-phase coupling on the characteristics of the self-mode-locked regime.
