Conference on Nonlinear Analysis

Mathematics as a Guide to the
Understanding of Applied Nonlinear Problems

6 to 10 January 2002, Kloster Irsee, Germany
Organized by: Hansjörg Kielhöfer, Alexander Mielke, Jürgen Scheurle

Analysis plays a crucial role in the mathematical modelling of nonlinear problems arising in applications. This conference plans to intensify the use of analytical techniques for the understanding of nonlinear phenomena by bringing together leading experts from several fields of analysis. The following topics will be covered:

This conference is organized in honor of Klaus Kirchgässner on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Invited participants as well as the members of the following tentative list of main speakers have been selected according to high scientific standards but also on grounds of a personal and professional relationship to Klaus Kirchgässner.

Tentative List of Main Speakers:
J.M. Ball, P.G. Ciarlet, J.-P. Eckmann, B. Fiedler, P. Fife, M. Golubitsky, J.K. Hale, M. Haragus, P.J. Holmes, G. Iooss, C.K.R.T. Jones, M. Kruse, R. Lauterbach, S. Maier-Paape, J.E. Marsden, S. Müller, G. Schneider, P. Rabinowitz, G. Raugel, M. Renardy, C.A. Stuart, J.F. Toland.

Kloster Irsee is located in Southern Germany about 70 kilometers southwest of Munich. It provides nice conference facilities and is able to host about 70 participants. The total price is DM 144,- for full board per person and day. We expect limited financial support from several sources so that we should be able to reimburse local expenses in certain cases.
