The Weierstrass Institute for
Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the
Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight
non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal
and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz
Association.
WIAS has a record of several years of activity in the field of modeling and
numerical simulation of electrochemical systems. As a partner of the
interdisciplinary research network “Perspectives for Rechargeable Magnesium-Air
Batteries“ in the framework of the “Funding Initiative Energy Storage“ of the
German Federal Government WIAS realizes the sub-project “Macroscopic Modeling
of Transport and Reaction Processes in Magnesium-Air batteries”. Within this

“Numerical Mathematics and
Scientific Computing”
(Head: Prof. Dr. V. John). The appointment starts at the next possible date and is limited for 3,5
years with a full time work schedule of 39 hours per week and a salary
according to the German public service tariff TvöD. Applicants are expected to
hold a PhD or university master or diploma degree in mathematics, physics or a
related field and to have significant knowledge on numerical methods for the
solution of partial differential equations and their computer realization or in
modeling of electrochemical systems based on macroscopic partial differential
equations.
